Before you begin doing the lab exercise on a Windows 10 Machine in Virtual Machine environment, if you do not have VMware Workstation installed on your computer, you can get a copy from from this download site. Some educational institution’s members can download from itacademy.brightspace.com. You may need to register for a new account if you never registered for an account at this site. If you get a license key from your institutions, make sure you used your institutions’ email address for the username during the registration. In the registration process, you will get an email in the college email address and you have to confirm the email to finish the registration process.

When you download VMware Workstation Pro, you will get a license key that you can use to register the product.

• Install VMware Workstation 16.x Pro with default settings in the installation wizard.
• Create following folders Structure in your hard drive (e.g., C:\VM). Make sure you use the last 4 digits of your ID instead of XXX. (For example, if your ID is 600101234, then instead of ‘LON-DC1-XXXX’ you should create ‘LON-DC1-1234 and instead of ‘LON-CL1-1234’ you should create ‘LON-CL1-1234)

Download Windows Server 2019 (or 2016) Data Center edition iso image from Microsoft Azure and save it in your Download folder.  Also, download “Windows 10 Education” edition iso image from Microsoft Azure and save the file in your Download folder. Some educational institutions provides the license keys to their members.

After you downloaded the necessary software, you may start the first step such as How to Install Windows Server 2019 in virtual machine or How to Install Windows 10 in virtual machine.
